Information About Umbro

Jocks in England would be completely at a loss without "Umbro England". After all, Umbro is the face of English football apparel! And not just football apparel, all sorts of sports gear! In fact, if you don't have a sports kit that isn't "Umbro", then it's not a sports kit at all! Umbro, with its brilliant marketing strategies over the years has managed to carve a name for itself in the billion dollar sports gear industry and why not? Everyone knows that their products are of the highest quality; otherwise Nike wouldn't have taken over Umbro in 2007!
In 1910, Umbro started out as a humble clothing line company called Humphrey Brothers Clothing, in Wilmslow, which is located in Cheshire. In the year 1924, the company abbreviated its name to Umbro, taking the "Um" from "Humphrey" and the "bro" from "Brothers". It was quite a small scale company until the 80s, until when it manufactured just sports clothing - such as socks, football jerseys and the like. In the year 1987, Umbro launched its first football trainers in the Brazilian market. Their design, though as good as their competitors’' - Adidas, Nike, Reebok and other popular football brands - were much cheaper and as a result, a HUGE hit in the market and there was no looking back after that.
After football gear came Umbro England shorts. These shorts became a huge craze in the early 1990s because they came in attractive colors, were made of nylon, a comfortable fabric and had a drawstring waistband. They became an integral part of the American Youth's wardrobe. Umbro England polo shirts, Umbro England gloves, Umbro England goalkeeper gloves, Umbro England performance jackets and umbro England home shirts soon followed suit. They became all the rage and now Umbro sells its products in 90 countries worldwide.
Umbro is not just a sports gear brand. It is a brand with a vision, it emphasizes on football culture and not just football as a sport. Maybe that's why Umbro is not just a sports gear brand, but the brand of the English football selection! Umbro's strategy is being executed in their every move, for example, they recently collaborated with the band Kasabian, promoted their music and also one of their own products to make it a combination of culture and football! Umbro might not be as big as its sibling concern Nike, but from the looks of it, it is not going to take long for Umbro England to catch up!
